Hi,
Thank you for pointing out the documentation on ADC under "Java"!
Yes, it seems that Apple has posted new Java Documentation for
Leopard. I logged in a few times over the weekend and didn't see it.
It was worth another look. Maybe I simply missed it. I just
downloaded and installed the documentation. It works great!
The Xcode 3.0 documentation system is much better than Xcode 2.x. Now
when you select a symbol such as a method, it will actually jump right
to the symbol (method) rather than just bringing you to the page with
the class. Also, installation is fast. You no longer have to wait
for indexing.
The correct file to download and install is titled, "Java for Mac OS X
10.5 Documentation Disk Image." That installs the right doc sets
(Java 1.4.2 and J2SE 5.0).
thanks,
tom

Hmm,
I guess I'm also confused about the "un-updated" Java documentation
existing on your current version of Xcode and your current Mac OS X,
Leopard.
I'm not there yet (still running Xcode v 2.5 under Tiger), so can't
see what kind of
install took place. I do know that every installation of Xcode
should by default install
Java Development, which includes Java Tools and Java Documentation.
Anyway, I don't know if this answer will be an answer, but you can
log on to the ADC
and click the Java link in the right-hand panel of the web page.
From there you should
see the J2SE 5.0 Documentation download file.
You may have tried this already, and also, whether it downloads and
installs so that it
is integrated within the Xcode environment is only a guess on my
part. I hope it helps.

Frank,
I am now only an online ADC member, and I don't see any Java
documentation for download. Maybe I am looking in the wrong place.
thanks,

You should be able to go to Apple's ADC (whether membership is
required for this, I'm not sure),
and download Java documentation that parallels whichever Java VM
version exists for X code.
I will look for the link myself, but again, this may require your
being an ADC member.

Thanks for the information, but the problem is that I am building
an ant based project, so there are no Java compiler settings in
the Target. Those settings are in the build.xml file. Those
settings are indeed 1.3 instead of 1.5, but they don't affect the
documentation.
The problem is that the Java documentation is for 1.3 instead of
1.5, and also that the documentation opens external to Xcode
rather than inside of the Xcode documentation window.
How can I get the Xcode doc sets for Java 1.5?
thanks,
tom

Hi,
I just upgraded to Leopard and installed Xcode 3. I noticed
that the Java reference documentation is for Java 1.3.1. How
can I get Xcode to use the Java 5 API reference?
thanks,
tom
