To be hot in the world of SCM today you need to have a distributed repository model, like Git, Mercurial, et.c.


Back on topic: SVN is a very nice "upgrade" from CVS. If you've ever used CVS you'll feel right at home with SVN, as they're very similar. If you're looking for a SCM system that integrates with Xcode, SVN is a very good choice.
