'setDefaultButtonCell' only working with enter key

  • Subject: 'setDefaultButtonCell' only working with enter key

Setting a Button as default button with setDefaultButtonCell  changes the buttons color to blue, but it only works with the enter key. Hit on return key has no effect.
Setting the key equivalent to \r has the same effect. (Leopard, Xcode 2.5, MacBook)
What is going wrong?
