How about the jailbreaking s/w (JBS) issue? Should an iPhone app be concerned with (and do something about) the possibility that a JBS can hack into iPhone and do something harmful? Does Apple guarantee anything?

I asked a similar question on the list a while ago.

My personal take on it was, that things are generally safe in the keychain. That said, if your data is especially sensitive you might want to consider other options. Search the list for a discussion of the topic

My app does encrypt the data with a key stored in the keychain. Now my question is can a jailbreaking s/w get the key from the keychain and decrypt my asset?

If you do not encrypt your data, then users can access that data easily on ANY iPhone -- jailbroken or not.

Your application's data is backed up to the Mac that the iPhone syncs with, and it does not take a rocket scientist to find it

Hi,

Should my code be concerned with the impact of jailbreaking. My app handles valuable digital assets and stores them in iPhone. Is it possible for the jailbreaking s/w to access my asset and do something illicit on it? Can an iPhone switch between normal mode and jailbroken mode, such that it can be a good citizen in one point and turn around being a bad one the next?
