In TextEdit or OmniOutliner (or any Cocoa application?), open a (new)
document and choose File > Print to bring up the standard print sheet. You
will find that the "Print" window (which is called a "window", not a
"sheet") is listed among the children of the window it is attached to, which
makes sense. However, the "Print" window's parent is NOT the window it is
attached to, but the application.
You can see this in UI Element Inspector by freezing the Inspector over the
print sheet and using the GoTo pop-up to check out the children of the
window and the parent of the sheet.
I can't find a Carbon app to test this on.
