What does the AXTitleUIElement attribute refer to, and what kinds of UI
elements does it apply to?
It is a way for a parent to call out one of its children as its title.
In
Panther it's only used in a few places, but you'll be seeing more of it
in the future. And - we're going to be encouraging developers to hook it
up themselves (and provide some help in doing so).
Generalizing this, let me come right out and ask my real question:
Would it
take a knowledgeable Apple engineer more than half a day to update the
"preliminary" Accessibility Reference for Assistive Applications? I
wouldn't
think so.
It's a big job that seems more straightforward in theory, than it turns
out to
be in practice. There have been several aborted/partial attempts at
getting it
done. Plus, stuff continues to evolve. We'll get there eventually, but
at this
point in time there are other more pressing issues we have to deal with.
Part of the problem is that there is no single engineer that can do it
- it
really requires collaboration/agreement between three of us in different
groups - none of which has time to do it.
Yes, these are lame excuses...
