This happens oa lot. One thing you can try is to change the default
voice, so that it isn't using the same one voice over is using.
*Sometimes* this solves the problem. But if you're using a standard
click with voice over (control-option-space) this will happen. To
avoid this, try using the simulated mouse click (control-option-shift-
space) This will prevent voice over from speaking the clicked button,
and will most likely allow your application to continue speaking.
If none of these approaches work, you can try blocking voice from
speaking while the button is pressed, though I don't recomend this
behavior, as voice over users will get very upset if it stops
speaking after they click on a button if they're not aware it's going
to stop for a short period.

Hi,
I just ran into a very weird and unpleasant issue, whereby
VoiceOver is cutting off my application's speech output under
certain conditions. For example when I speak in response to a
button click speech works, but when I speak in response to a click
on a databrowser item speech gets cut off by a stop signal even
before I hear anything. I have filed a bug: rdar://4611870
Any suggestions as how to work around this or what the logic is of
this strange behavior would be appreciated.
Cheers,
david.
