This happens oa lot. One thing you can try is to change the default

*Sometimes* this solves the problem.
My problem does not seem to be related to this. changing voice makes
no difference.
But if you're using a standard click with voice over
(control-option-space) this will happen. To avoid this, try using
the simulated mouse click (control-option-shift-space) This will
prevent voice over from speaking the clicked button, and will most
likely allow your application to continue speaking.
This indeed seems to work for buttons, not for for example databrowser row.
If none of these approaches work, you can try blocking voice from
speaking while the button is pressed, though I don't recomend this
behavior, as voice over users will get very upset if it stops
speaking after they click on a button if they're not aware it's
going to stop for a short period.
I have tried a variety of things and it all boils down to very
unpredictable behavior of VoiceOver making it impossible for me to
effectively and reliably work around this issues. There are
situations where my speech interrupts VoiceOver and situations where
VoiceOver interrupts my speech. I have little influence over either
situation :-(

Hi,
I just ran into a very weird and unpleasant issue, whereby
VoiceOver is cutting off my application's speech output under
certain conditions. For example when I speak in response to a
button click speech works, but when I speak in response to a click
on a databrowser item speech gets cut off by a stop signal even
before I hear anything. I have filed a bug: rdar://4611870
Any suggestions as how to work around this or what the logic is of
this strange behavior would be appreciated.
Cheers,
david.
