Hi.
I'm preparing a presentation for an assistive application and would
like to give some statistics (at least estimates) to justify the
efforts.
Any idea or rough estimates on what percentage of commercial
applications support the Accessibility API? And from those, how
many provide the AXDocument attribute for their windows?
I know most document-based apps (especially Apple ones) provide the
URL for the document, but some, like Safari, don't.
I don't think you'll be able to get any type of stats on this. If
you need to justify making your app accessible, you should really be
looking at your target audience.
My current app targets the education space. My personal goal was to
ensure that _all_ students could use my app. A few copies have
already been sold to schools working with children with various
disabilities. Also, I think that one day schools in general will
begin requiring "Section 508 compatibility" and I'd thus have a leg
up on my competitors.
