selected items on all open windows, along with items on the desktop.
Ah, sorry, must have mixed up something there. I'd listed the items
just fine but I never really needed more than the front window's
selected items, so had completely forgotten that the selection is per-
application and not per-window.
BTW -- Bill is right (as usual about this stuff) but it might help
to try selecting the desktop instead of closing all other windows. In
general, the desktop can become the key window just like other windows.
