More reaction to the yellow screen...
There's a really interesting psychological effect- making the Mini
yellow has
changed the way I perceive the yellow on sbox [his Ubuntu Linux
box]. (I go back
and forth between them a lot.) Apparently looking at a (even though
it's slightly greyish)
white screen resets -my- white balance. This is actually a -big-
help and my
heart is overflowing with gratitude. Because of the grey text it's
still
very hard to read the screen but the painful glare is gone.
Apple people: might it be reasonable, in the Accessibility prefs, to
tell Quartz to set the background of all windows to a selectable
value? And maybe text areas and buttons and other widgets too?? Or
maybe provide an API hook so a developer could make it happen...
Or let IB get into compiled data to adjust stuff?

No, that would help nothing. What you see is not the window background
but whatever color the view has. And that is some fixed value that is
essentially set by the developer (though probably through IB, but
nevertheless fixed). It's usually not some dynamic color that Apple
can change based on pref settings.
