AXUIElementCopyAttributeValue() and window drags

When a target application's window is dragged to a new position, AXUIElementCopyAttributeValue() does not return the new position continuously during the drag but only when the drag is paused or completed. Resizing a target window by dragging its resize box is similar but returns the new size more frequently.
These behaviors have been around for a long time. When I last posted about them here in late 2007, Apple's James Dempsey acknowledged the behaviors. I found a workaround at that time using the Quartz Event Taps API, but that workaround seems to have developed some difficulties in recent versions of the OS (Mac OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard?). I haven't fully explored this.
Before I get too far into the issue this time, I wonder if anybody knows of a newer or better workaround?
