There are a couple of other options for adding the feature you want, but I haven't tried them so I can't comment.
Not to forget FinderPop, the freeware CM swiss-army knife. FinderPop let you ctrl-click (or click-and-hold) on a item and have it opened with one of the apps you've previously added to its folder.
