On Friday, me, myself and I together wrote

>I'm trying to use Akua to edit some resources in a file.
>'the resource of type "blob"' returns <<data blobNNNN...>>, but then I need to coerce that to a string. I've tried adding 'as string' but it either crashes Script Editor or returns an unusable string. Nothing else - as resource string for example - is useful.

Well: thanks to all who responded - especially you responsive osax writers! - and sorry to everyone. My mac was probably in a bad mood. After experiencing no bug on another machine, and testing again yesterday, I wasn't abble to reproduce it.
However, it's not as if I wrote w/o caution: last Friday, I spent an hour or two reproducing the bug in every situation before writing. And then, now, nothing left. Puzzled me.

Serge
