I have a solution which involves Filemaker printing off a page as PDF, said
page is opened in Acro Exchange and a larger pre-compiled PDF is inserted at
the end of the Filemaker page.

So, today, using 4 docs, I ran my latest implementation using PrintToPDF.
The first 3 docs went thru fine but the fourth gets Acrobat to sent me a
'not enough memory' message.

The 4th doc is 1.0Mb in size. But, I was handling 2.5Mb docs on Thursday and
Friday. I've tried upping Acrobat's memory to 32Mb but I still get the same
error.

I've tried running the samller files again and they're still OK. I tried a
bloater (2.5Mb) and got the 'memory' error.

Any ideas?

Sure, dump Acrobat in favor of a tool like AppendPDF (<http://www.digapp.com>).

Acrobat is NOT designed (nor licensed) for use in an unattended or automated fashion. It's not multi-threaded, it leaks memory like a sieve and more! If you are want to do serious PDF processing, then get serious tools.
