On 12/24/2000, Bernard Azancot commented on "Shutdown backup":
My goal:
I want to perform a backup at shutdown, and ... shutdown.
Actually, I have a Quickeys script in the System Folder:Open at Shutdown
folder, that more or less does the job.
When I decide to shutdown, the script launches Retrospect and performs the
backup.
Then I have to choose Shudown menu item *again*, and the Mac shuts down, at
least... (Sometimes the shutdown operation is impossible, I get stuck,
needing to reset the Mac. It could be a problem with Mac OS 9.0.4. I do not
know. Has anyone had the same problem, or is it a problem with QK?)
I can't offer any guidance on scripting Retrospect, or Quickeys, but
I felt this was worth pointing out, as it may help to overcome your
problem.
In Retrospect Express 4.3, there's a preference panel which looks
something like this:
-------------------------------
[ ] Stay in Retrospect Express
[ ] Quit
[ ] Restart
[X] Shutdown
When unattended execution is complete, and no other scripts are
scheduled to run for 12 hours, then the action selected above is
taken.
-------------------------------
This setting is global within Retrospect, so it may not be a solution
to your problem, or it may not exist in the version which you are
using. The path to the setting is Configure Tab>Preferences
button>Unattended.
