Let's see. When I run this...
---
tell application "Finder"
close window "Document1" of application "QuarkXPress 4.11"
end tell
---
... I don't get an error.
Just a dialog which asks:"Save the new document "Document1"?"

The dialog pops up only because the document is not saved.
With a saved document the window closes. No error, no dialog.

With...
---
tell application "Finder"
close window "Document Layout" of application "QuarkXPress 4.11"
end tell
---
... the Layout palette is closed with no error at all.
