It's my understanding that a purchaser of Scripter PE will be credited with
the full purchase price if he or she upgrades to Scripter.
What's missing in PE is ScriptBase and the facilities (primarily the Call
Box) that let you debug open, run and quit handlers, scripts that are called
from an application and other somewhat arcane constructs. These are powerful
features. But many Scripter devotees don't use ScriptBase and Call Box is
also something many people just don't need. If you're writing AppleScript
CGIs or using script objects ( in the sense that term is used in the ASLG),
then you do need the Call Box.
If the $100 difference is important, then start with Scripter PE. If
Scripter suits your style and you find you need the other stuff, you won't
have wasted any money.
Or you could play with the Scripter demo to see what you think of the full
feature set.
I think your time will be better spent scripting than chasing a detailed
comparative feature list.
Please note: Scripter is not my primary script editor at the moment; but its
a very powerful IDE with an impressive fan club and with the demise of
Script Debugger 1 Scripter PE occupies an important price point, midway
between zero and $189 (Scripter and Script Debugger 2).
