Cant you just save the desired preferences for your desktop printer (i.e. print to file, 'Save as' Format:EPS) and then just drag and drop all of the PDF files to your desktop printer?

Yes... (wait for it) but:

I was hoping to automate as much of this as possible so that the eps files are created as the pdfs are created.

Hmm... maybe folder actions can help me move the files to the DT Printer.

The scenario is:

Composite PS Files of classified ad pages created in folder on network volume from pagination software (Harris Publishing Systems' AdPAG running on NT)
Distiller creates PDFs
PDFs exported as EPS
EPS dropped onto Xpress page
Separated PS written out of Xpress
Separated PS Distilled to PDF for soft proof
Separated PS handed off to printer for pagination

There's a lot going on here, so I want to automate *everything* I possibly can, up to and including creating the Xpress files and placing the EPS files.
