Thanks, I remember hearing about such a thing, but I hadn't searched
my archives for the reference.
However, I tend to be reluctant to add more extensions to my System.
There are so many already, and it's such a hassle when one of them is
causing trouble, and my old iMac takes long enough to start up as it
is. And it seems that the Extension Manager itself is one of the
more crash-prone parts of the System.
I know there's Conflict Catcher, but I haven't sprung the money for
it yet, and even if I did, there would be yet another nonstandard
addition to my System, no?
Anyway, for the add - trim clipping name Folder Action Script, I
still like the Pop-Up Window idea, since the pop-up tab tends to be
more accessible when dragging from an application window than folder
icons.
But I do think I'll give the Folder-Actions-Plus a try, anyway, for
some other things.
Thanks again!

Note: For some reason, a folder has to be open for its Folder
Actions to be invoked.
With Eric Grants Folder Actions Plus extension, folder no longer have to be
open to execute a folder action script.
