Applescript and Javascript

Here's another basic question for a newbie. I have a Javascript (i think,
I'm still checking on that, but assume that it is,) sitting on a web server
somewhere. I have an AppleScript sitting on a computer somewhere. Can I
have that AppleScript call and run that JavaScript and return the result to
the AppleScript to be used by the AppleScript?

If this is possible, where the heck would someone suggest I start to learn
more about doing so?

Thanks for any help!!
