Michelle,
Here's my suggestion: phone Microsoft Support for Mouse. Get the number off
the web. My Intellimouse got fried somehow by some electrical event. (So did
my G3 Apple keyboard, but it was 2 years old, so I didn't bother phoning
Apple.) Since the i-Mouse has only been out for about 8 months, you don't
even have to prove how old it is. As soon as MS understood that it couldn't
be a USB software issue but must be hardware (the hockey puck still worked,
as yours does), they sent me a free replacement mouse. That was after :
- 10 seconds wait time to speak with Microsoft on the phone: 10 seconds!
- 5 minutes or less talk with the support person (at first she wanted me to
speak with a real techie, but then bowed to pure logic without bothering)
- less than 24 hours later the mouse arrived by UPS or Fedex
Try it.
