My Microsoft Intellimouse Explorer keeps freezing momentarily, usually
accomponied by disk chatter. Sometimes, the wheel and all but the left
button are disabled (and the control panel shows that they're not
working), but a latter chatter and freeze will restore their function.
Ocassionally, the entire system will freeze.
I tried replacing the software, killing the preferences, turning off all
"as needed" and automatic updates, scanning etc, re-installing the OS,
unplugging all USB devices except the mouse and keyboard, but nothing
helps.
The same problem happens regardless of whether I'm using the intellipoint
software or USB Overdrive.
If I replace the mouse with the original iMac "puck" mouse, the problem
goes away, but I really miss that scroll wheel and extra buttons and
would like to use that mouse.
anyone got any suggestions? I asked in the MacNN and MacFixit forums,
but no one has responded.
