<<As for George Mack's question, AFAIK section starts are not scriptable. You
can compare the "name as integer" and "index" of a page and conclude that a
section start has been applied if the two are not the same. If they are the
same, it's always possible that the user has applied a section start but
didn't change anything. If that matters.>>
Before QXP 4.11, I had a script that would successively open every
chapter in a folder, update the page 1 number as the start of a new
section, check that the last page was on a left-hand page, update a
"total pages" counter, and move on to the next chapter. (The chapters
had to be in order alphabetically.) If I found a non-"1" page 1, I
assumed the section start flag was already set, and just updated the
number; otherwise I would click on the section check box (using
Sandi's additions osax) and tab to the field and type the new start
number.
The difficulty is that Quark doesn't distinguish between a book
chapter start (using the book palette) and a section start. Both
change the number of the starting page, but... the section start is
"hard wired" and the book chapter start is flexible, and changes as
the preceding chapters change.
I may go back to my former approach as this project rolls around next
year; the book palette seems a bit flaky or unstable anyway, so it's
at least as much maintenance. But it would be nice if I could
call/set/determine these things from a script.
Does anyone have a way to determine checkmark status on a dialog box?
Thanks again,
George
