depending on your needs, this will become quite tiresome. You have to cope
with deleting and inserting items in lists, and if these are long it will be
very slow.
I would look at Lawrence D'Oliveiro's tableserver app which basically gives
you a sophisticated hashed array/database service

Also, please submit a bug report/suggestion to Apple requesting that they
support hash arrays in AppleScript. This is a major limitation, especially
in the core scripting of an OS that claims to be "built for the net from the
ground up" (which basically runs on top off hash arrays).
