GraphicConverter PPC's dictionary (v4.0.9) says
open reference -- list of objects to open
So it takes a LIST as its argument, not a file. instead of doing the repeat
loop through the list, what happens if you just tell it to open photolist?
Then you can omit 'as alias'.
