IIRC, the Mac OS Temporary periodically empties and deletes Items folder (I
think on shut down). The next application that wishes to add an item to the
Temporary Items folder causes the operating system to create the folder
again.

My guess is, your script was working. The path is always valid; but the
folder (for some reason) hadn't been created when Tanakas OSAX tried to
access it.
