AppleWorks Spreadsheet manipulation

  • Subject: AppleWorks Spreadsheet manipulation

Either my brain is wrecked or AppleWorks is broken! To test which is wrong, my embarrassingly simple question is therefore: How can the contents of cells in an AppleWorks spreadsheet be manipulated?

Of course I have checked the dictionary of AppleWorks, but no matter what I do, I always get errors like "AppleWorks 6 got an error: Can't make some data into the expected type.". None of my attempts along the lines of 'get cell 1 of spreadsheet layer of document 1' or 'formula of cell ...' or any of a zillion other similar constructs work. The ONLY command that works for me is the simple 'paste'. Since AppleWorks is not recordable, I can't try out how it is supposed to be done, or if it is broken in some way.

My real task is simply to paste a tab delimited text at the first empty row, then go and make some rows bold! Utterly simple, and therefore a bit embarrassing to ask that on this very fine mailing list, but I am completely stuck...
