Either will work in all the current AppleScript editors I know about (it's
been so long that I don't "know about" Hypercard and Frontier in this
context, and I'm calling Info-Depot non-current <unfortunately>).

Only the option-l will work for preparing a script somewhere else.

I've never been sure whether option-L or option-l is a clearer pattern
given that our keycaps show the upper case form. [Not on all
keyboards...ah well.]

I tend to say
option-l
and
option-shift-l
(and for that particular one I often toss in "(elle)" somewhere nearby).
