encoding with uuencode?

Maybe this is a totally dumb question, but why not encode with uuencode?

Just for grins, I wrote an encoder that converts the text on the clipboard into something you can paste into email. I think that by modifying the header line, it'll pass through mail list manager software. (Then again, maybe not...) It's not fast, but it's not slow enough to be unusable for encoding a few dozen lines of text. It also doesn't decode, but that's pretty easy to do.

The emails would get large and ugly, but it would be pretty obvious that the uuencoded text was something out of the ordinary and should be decoded somehow.

Comments? Should I have read the archives first?
