I tried, oh lord how I tried, esp. since there are native Solaris versions
of frame...but listen to the IT guy about IT issues? Why, I'm a Ph.D and
he's still working on a bachelor's!

I believe Adobe has a web page that will convert uploaded documents for free. I have not tried it and, unfortunately, cannot recall the URL. It may be worth a quick search if no one else has the information handy.

I bit the bullet and purchased the Adobe Acrobat application. PDFs are created by a printer driver, from any application. Terribly convenient. It includes a web capture capability that turns web sites into multi-page PDF documents complete with bookmarks and hyperlinks. I have found this quite useful.
