I'm probably pushing the OT talk, but what the heck.
What does MAE and Applescript have in common?
Here's the answer. Back around 1994-5, when I was working in Server
Marketing, we had this new program called MAE coming out, and were looking
for ways to support it. One thing we did was decide to create mailing lists
for users to self-support each other. They were the first Apple lists that
were created for this purpose, and were the reason the server was set up.
That's the server that is now in it's third generation (rewrites from
scratch) that we're now using for that same purpose on this list.
Without MAE, Apple might never have gotten into doing this, and I pretty
definitely wouldn't be. Because we found out just how well the system
worked, other groups wanted lists, and eventually, I left server marketing
to work on e-mail systems full time for Apple (FWIW, lists.apple.com is one
of three email servers I run for Apple these days).
That and $3 will buy you a latte... (grin)
