Scheduling Tasks With Applescript

Hi,

I have a server that I would like to do scheduled nightly back ups with
Retrospect. I first need to quit all open applications, Webstar, FileMaker,
etc, to do the back up. Quitting the apps is easy but how do I schedule
Applescript to run at a designated time, that is, right before Retrospect is
scheduled to perform the nightly back up?

Is Applescript the answer to this problem or is there a better way that I
have overlooked?

Thanks,
