Thanks for all the responses to my query. I feel a bit embarrassed for
posting the lame code in the first place. I just hack out badly written
applescripts all the time for my own amusement and had somehow missed
"round" in my searches of the applescript guide and other lists. Thanks
for the "div 1" example too, as that really does what I wanted to
achieve (get an index for a list). I just had the wrong impression that
coercing a real number to an integer should have worked and kept
fiddling with it until it worked. Just for the record a am running
9.0.4 and just the scripting additions that come with it and I get an
error coercing the figure if I add a number below 62 and then subtract
it. I just thought it was pretty curious behaviour, what is so special
about 62? I guess it's idiosyncrasies like this that give the language
its charm.
