Beginner's question number 3: If I want to start an application, how do I

know what app name to use? Is it the name of the executable code file?
In the Script Editor type;
open app "X"
When you check the syntax, you will be prompted to locate 'X'. Whatever
app you pick, then name will be inserted for 'X'. So if you picked the
'AppleCD Audio Player', your line would end up like this;
open application "AppleCD Audio Player"
However to answer your question, it is the name of the application. Or
you can use the creator code as well. Using the same app as above, the
line would be;
tell application "Finder" to open application file id "aucd"
Later,
Guy
