Those good old extra accented characters; add a few extra non-accented characters like c cedilla, and call them all diacritics. They turn learning to type into a real fun - and I did learn :) This is also why I've always tried to stay far away from keyboards w/o keypads; they make typing an intolerably hard thing.

And - sorry I couldn't resist, as I'm personally concerned - think about the vietnamese people: they use roman characters, but add all sorts of funky accents both over and under the letters, usually many of them at the same time - the kind of accents that can really change the meaning of a word upside-down :)

Back to scripting now.
I wonder if anyone has already encountered a problem that has plagued me for awhile. I'm working on a script that extracts a resource as string and do all sorts of manipulation with it. This involved dealing with ascii char (0) - adding, getting the offset of etc.

The script by itself works well, but just showing ascii 0 in SE's event log window or SMILE for example can lead to unpredictable results, from displaying a whole junk in place of each character to crashing whatever editor.

At first I thought the culprit was the osax - and I've bothered more than one author, sorry :) - until I find today that it has nothing to do with it.

So, is this a known bug, am I the only one to encounter it, is there any solution?

Thanks,

Serge, who really is concerned about non-standard chars today :)
