Actually, that _does_ surprise me, if you mean that you need to hold down
several modifier keys to get chevrons in French. (Maybe you don't mean
that.) Don't you use chevrons - guillemets - in French for quoting, at least
in a literary context? Perhaps it's an old-fashioned style, but I would have
thought it would be less obscure than in US/UK keyboards, maybe even
displayed on the keyboard. Let's check (I have World Script 1 installed):
no, they're option-h (e-grave), shift-option-e-grave, where 7 is on a US
keyboard. Not exactly intuitive, although more centrally placed. I see what
you mean! It's interesting to see that, what with all the extra accented
characters you need every day in French, the numbers are relegated to the
shift-keyboard. Do you use them, or do you tend to use the number pad
instead?
