I have often seen this with MS Word running! I've never figured what
triggers it, but suddenly everything slows down. If I switch to Word and
back, things clear up. I am pretty sure I've tied some instances to the
"Assistant", which I have banished, although he keeps popping back up and
having to be slain anew, shades of trolls in an Adventure game.
