Having multiple apps open virtually guarantees slowdowns, particularly when
the background apps are as active as OE. I won't flame M$ unfairly here
though, the same happens with AOL-NS. But of course, both core products are
ports from PC's.
See if the slowdown persists if you turn off the
'Send and receive every
' checkbox in the 'General' preferences.
