I think the best solution for this would be to write two scripts:
1: to start recording
2: to stop recording

And then to use one of the several "scheduling" applications :
<I think the names are as follows, there are probably others>
Cron
TminusTen
Script Scheduler

There was something that came bundled with OS 9, but I can't recall right now
if it was script scheduler or something else...
