Beware of a terminology conflict with Akua Sweets.
There's also a problem with Script Debugger that Mark's working to isolate.
The script above compiles for me in the Script Editor, but it doesn't work. I have to use the form:
set Disk Volume alias to alias "Mac HD:"
Furthermore the Startup Disk CP doesn't visually update itself until it is quit and restarted. (OMM)

"An identifier can not come after this identifier" this identifier being Disk Volume. Did you record it and it worked as well?
You have Akua loaded?

Look, I've been crashing just by keying in a bit faster. I have very few non Apple extensions, mind you.
I have numerous 3rd pty extensions, and have found 9.1 to be quite solid but not uncrashable.
