But he didn't ask about Scripter, nor advice about script editors, Ed. Not
this time. He asked about Smile.
Smile does have an equivalent for what he's looking for, which is the Output
window.

You don't give Smile a fair shot, Ed, by using it regularly, nor is there
any good reason for you to do so, because you're married to Scripter. That's
perfectly OK - we all get used to the tools we use regularly. And I'm
perfectly willing to take your word, and others', that Scripter and/or
Script Debugger have an easier interface. But using Smile for debugging is
neither "way too complex" nor is it limiting for someone just moving on from
Script Editor. It doesn't come with a printed manual, so beginners do have a
harder time finding out how to use it. They're welcome to write to this list
about it if they want to, and there are a few of us here who can guide them.
Stephen may or may not be aware that he can also write to the Smile mailing
list at "SUL" <email@hidden> putting [SUL] at the beginning of the
subject.
