This is not a Quark thing; it is an Applescript (actually, a Mac OS)

thing. Punctuation marks are never parts of words, so if you ask for a

I thing it is still a Quark thing:
Try
word 2 of text box 1
--> "earth"
and compare with
(characters of word 2 of text box 1) as text
--> "earth."

For example

words of "how now, brown cow?"

But if i do:
set x to a reference to characters of word 2
set xText to x as text
set word 2 to xText & "_"
all characters of word 2 change their styles to the style of the first char of word 2 ??
Ever experienced this? Do you know a workaround to keep the style? that makes the changed text the same style the last character of word 2 had.
