Thanks Emmanuel and Olivier.
Both SE and Smile can open AW6's dictionary if you target an alias.
However, something changed since
according to the post below, I did open the dictionary by targeting
the application. May be it was CLib 1.3, I had an earlier version
then.
So, if one has CLib older than 1.3, one might be able to open AW6's
dictionary via menu, otherwise better target an alias.
Mind you that Smile will not see the *.app but SE will, so be careful
if you do not want to crash

Well, perhaps, but it doesn't work just like that. If I try to drop the
.app file on the dictionary, I get
"Couldn't open the document because the file could not be found"
When I try Open from script editor's file menu, the .app is not present
in the list.
So, I hope this is not the new way.
Any other ideas?

May be you are right!
There was a crucial question I did not ask... are you running AS 1.6?
May be this is the difference.
I have 9.1, AS 1.6 and AW 6.1. I opened the dictionary going to
"AppleWorks 6.app".
By the way, dropping the app in the SE icon caused an error and SE to quit!
