Ken,
At the risk of making myself sound dumb...
Have you tried creating the dialog *with* a button and then modifying the
code that it generates. for example: delete the code that deals with the
button and the action. I'm not sure if you could do something like that,
because I've only played around with DD and DS and haven't ever produced any
scripts with them. You may want to check out the Dialog Director
documentation and sample scripts. There might be something in there.
Who knows?
