How do I change my default editor?

Is there any way to change the Editor that is sought by the system when an error
occurs?

The standard Script Editor is automatically launched when you select the "Edit"
button on the error dialogs on all recent OS's.

Is there any way to change this to an editor that will accept more than 32k?
