I guess it's all a matter of opinion. I teach AppleScript, and my general
feeling is that those with a programming background tend to be wary of them
(although they also tend to want everything including the kitchen sink
thrown into the language anyway -- "Whah! Where's my case command!?!"),
while those without a programming background thing that quick and easy
access to extra power is a great thing.

But this isn't the result of any scientific study, and I might be at least
partly seeing what I want to see.
