Applescripters,
To my annoyance, I received the following message from nellA hciR,
directed at me personally as distinct from the List.

I already posted an answer to that question... :)
Let me know if you can't find it.
nella hcir,
This was *not* a useless post, especially not for Bryan or anybody
else who has been following this thread. Bryan's original post
received a reply from Christopher Fox, who didn't in fact give a
solution, but changed the question. Following posts were in reply to
Christopher's question, not Bryan's. I then posted a reply to Bryan's
*original* question, which he didn't seem to notice/hadn't yet
received, since he posted the question again. Jolly Roger is one of
those who did follow the thread:

I believe someone said that BBEdit installed a package that shows how to do

that information.
The events suurounding this thread make me realise that it probably
not good etiquette to reply to somebody's post with a different
question - let's say that Bryan's post was hijacked. nellA hciR's
email to me comes across as an insult directed at me, as if my
contribution to the List was "useless". I was in fact trying to
rescue a thread-gone-wrong.
For the record, the reply to Bryan's original post:
Yes there is! I don't know if you're familiar with BBEdit, but
installing version 4.5 gave you a folder with BBEdit Utilities.
Inside of that is an installer for a little thing called Simpletext
Redirector, which is in fact an Applescript which has been modified
with ResEdit. Documentation is included, and with a bit of tweaking
you can use it to "redirect" any document to any compatible
application.
If you need to know more, just let me know.
Apologies for ranting, but I had to get this off my mind.
Pier.
