more, may I ask. "Is there a searchable archive"?
Not directly. If you go to
http://www.lists.apple.com/mailman/listinfo/applescript-users and
follow the link, you can download the archives as text, and then use BBEdit or Sherlock to search
them. I'd recommend BBEdit. Also, to save time downloading them, use something like Interarchy,
which can download whole directories easily and quickly. If you do use Interarchy, connect to the
following URL:
http://USERNAME:email@hidden/archives/applescript-users/
where USERNAME and PASSWORD are what is mentioned on the first page above.
Use Interarchy's HTTP Mirror command to download that link. However, remember as mentioned
previously on this thread that these archives are for use relating to understanding AppleScript.
The rules don't prohibit keeping a local copy for personal use, but reposting the Mirrored files
to the web would circumvent Apple's right to protect all of our email addresses, as well as their
right to control any public use of the archives. So, a personal copy to search through should be
fine, but keep it personal. :-)
Interarchy is great, but I hope they add AppleScript feedback to it. Right now, many of it's
applescript commands work as most web browsers - they do what you ask, but give no feedback to the
script itself, they just open a window showing the results to any user who actually has to watch
to see what happens. :-( They may be changing this, I hope.
