Quoting Chuq:

Ya know, we really shouldn't be arguing this on applescript-users. Are
people possibly interested in moving this discussion? If so, I have a place
(over on www.chuqui.com) we can set up to hold it (it's one reason I *did*
www.chuqui.com...) meta flags or not, we really shouldn't take this too far
on this list, but I hate just saying "off topic, shut up" because there are
serious issues going on.

Hey, I'm fiendishly interested in these issues too. But they're annoying the bulk of folks who use this list. Further discussions on the topics of

- personal opinions of Chuq's interaction and management style
- the need for a searchable archive of Apple lists
- the rights of Apple to encourage or prevent publication of aggregations of listmail
- heavy-handedness of Apple in managing its public lists
- who holds the copyright in a message posted to a list server
- the future of copyright in the digital age in general

should move elsewhere. Discussions about where to move such discussions should be conducted elsewhere, either in private mail or on the private list Chuq suggested.

The question of "why isn't the archive searchable" has been asked and answered repeatedly (if you missed it, it's "because we don't have a technology yet that prevents spammers from harvesting your email addresses from it, but we're working on it, and when we have it, we'll do it"). please move all derivative or tangential discussions that don't involve AppleScript off this list.

Regards,

Chris Espinosa
